First of all, on this tutorial, I will use Microsoft Word 2016 as an example. Just a simple reminder, to change the theme you can use one of the Office 2016 programs and the other will changed automatically.

Other than that, if you have Office programs on the other laptop computer or devices connected to this Microsoft account, the theme changes will also apply and use to those devices.

Luckily, Microsoft has provided us with two options whether to change it to all your device or only on a single computer. So, let’s get started.

Change Office Theme on All Devices

  1. Launch any Microsoft Office 2016 program and create a blank document or template
  2. Navigate and click the File tab
  3. Click Account
  4. Under the Office Theme, click the drop-down, then choose an Office theme

Change Office Theme on Single Computer

  1. Launch any Microsoft Office 2016 program > Create a blank document
  2. Navigate and click the File tab
  3. Click Options > General
  4. On Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office section, on the right side of Office Theme, choose your desired theme

How to Change Microsoft Office 2016 Background

On Microsoft Office 2016 not only you can change the color theme but also its header background. There are many options of available backgrounds such as Circuit, Stars, Circles, Calligraphy, Doodle Diamonds and many others.

But before we start, want to remind all the viewers which you must log on to Office 2016 to be able to its background.

Just like changing Office 2016 theme, you also have the option to choose whether to changes the header background to all your computer which connected to your Microsoft account or just on one PC.

Change Office 2016 Background on All Devices

  1. Open a Microsoft Office 2016 program e.g. Microsoft Word and create a blank document
  2. Click the File tab > Account
  3. On the right side of Office Background, click the drop-down menu, then choose any background that you like

Change Office 2016 Background on Single PC

  1. Open a Microsoft Office 2016 program and create a new template or blank document
  2. Click the File tab > Options > General
  3. On the next screen, under Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office, on the right side of Office Background, click the drop-down menu and pick any background you like

    Is there a way to categorise different theme formats to show us newbies which to choose. I have changed about 7 or 8 times .

      Hi Stella,
      First of all sorry for the late reply. In Microsoft 2016 there are only several themes which Microsoft provide, so you can only choose the available themes. By categorizing different themes, if you talking about setup a different office program with a different theme, i think it’s not possible
